Drafting Effective Separation Agreements

Sometimes an employment relationship just doesn’t work out. When that happens, an employer may consider whether to offer a particular departing employee a separation agreement that offers the employee certain benefits (e.g., a severance payment) in exchange for a release of claims and other promises that benefit the employer.
