Sexting At School: Cyber Safety, Privacy, And Good Citizenship
Brian B. Garrett
It is critical that educators marshal the powers of peer influence. Lawmakers are trying to address sexting and whether to criminalize such behavior; cyber-bullying remains a challenge, and administrators are attempting to ensure that campus policies capture it all. This speed session will address the evolving mores around the student cyber experience to help boarding schools stay true to their missions and values while appropriately changing with the times.
Parental Comportment: Options When Parents Misbehave
Matthew D. Batastini
Instances of parental misbehavior are among the most challenging situations for boarding schools to navigate. Often the misbehaving parents are prominent community members or distinguished professionals (or worse, lawyers), and responding in a firm, yet lawful, manner can feel like walking through a minefield. This lively and interactive program will discuss several examples of misbehaving parents, outline applicable legal considerations, and provide strategies and tips for avoiding legal entanglement.
Conference information and access to registration can be found on the 2018 TABS Conference website.
