Maria L. Santos is a graduate of Boston College Law School. She received her undergraduate degree with a Bachelor of Science, summa cum laude, from Rivier College. Maria has over 14 years of experience in employment-based immigration and nationality law, and has represented corporations, institutions and individuals on both a local and national level. Her practice also includes family-based immigration. Maria has been a panelist, keynote speaker and presenter at a variety of local events, such as the Boston College LALSA Alumni Panel, Women's Week Celebration, People Who Make a Difference Award Ceremony for Middlesex Community College, and others.
Maria is an active participant in Greater Boston area community organizations. She is a volunteer for the City of Boston Legal Clinic for Haitian Temporary Protected Status 2010, a volunteer organizer for AILA's 2009 National Day of Action, a volunteer for the Rectora for Peace/Emmaus Movement (a Retreat for ages 19-29), a coach for the Lowell Catholic High School Mock Trial Team, and a volunteer through MAPS, a citizenship program to prepare individuals from various cultures for naturalization. She is the co-organizer and creater of "Go The Distance," a self-awareness workshop for teenagers in Lowell schools, and a member of the "Motivators" in the Lowell Portuguese-American community.
Maria is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA), the Massachusetts Bar Association (MBA), the New England Human Resources Association (NEHRA), Associated Industries of Massachusetts (AIM), and the Greater Lowell, Northern Middlesex, and North Suburban Chambers of Commerce. She is Chair of the Board of the Cambridge Portuguese Credit Union, and a member of the Massachusetts Alliance of Portuguese Speakers, the Rivier College Paralegal Program Advisory Board, and the Rivier College Alumni Board of Trustees.
Maria is a member of the Massachusetts Bar. She is fluent in both English and Portuguese.
