  • Sara Schwartz is the Founder, President and Managing Partner of Schwartz Hannum PC. Sara is a cum laude graduate of both Yale College and Harvard Law School. She began her legal career at the law firm of Ropes & Gray in Boston, after completing a federal court clerkship with The Honorable William Young in Boston. Sara's practice includes the representation of employers with respect to employment discrimination claims in government agencies and courts throughout the United States, as well as counseling clients and representing them with respect to traditional labor law issues. Sara is particularly experienced in representing multi-state clients with respect to state-specific issues, and has extensive experience in representing businesses in the technology, financial services, health care and staffing industries. Sara is a frequent speaker at seminars for attorneys and human resources professionals.

    Sara was selected as a Massachusetts Super Lawyer and top Labor and Employment attorney in Massachusetts, for the fifth consecutive year. These listings are published in the November 2008 issue of Boston Magazine and in Massachusetts Super Lawyers 2008. Massachusetts Super Lawyers were selected following a "Blue Ribbon Panel" review of the results of ballots sent to 35,000 lawyers throughout Massachusetts by Law & Politics. Only five percent of Massachusetts lawyers were named Super Lawyers. In 2005, Sara was selected as one of the nominees with the highest point total in her practice area to serve on this Panel. Sara was selected as one of the "Up and Coming Lawyers in Massachusetts" in 2001 by Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly. For three consecutive years, Sara was recognized by Chambers USA as a leading attorney in her area of expertise. Chambers publishes guides world-wide on law firms and lawyers and is a highly recognized leader in its field. Sara generated impressive feedback from Chambers' research sources who in 2008 described her as a "a formidable advocate" who "always does her homework," in order to sharpen her "cutting-edge knowledge of the law." A "'delight to deal with,' she is a firm favorite for clients, who appreciate her cost-effective advice."     Sara is a member of the Bar of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and is admitted to the United States District Courts for the District of Connecticut and the District of Massachusetts, and the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit.

    Sara is a member of the American Bar Association, the American Employment Law Council, Associated Industries of Massachusetts, the Boston Bar Association, The Commonwealth Institute, Massachusetts Bar Association, Society for Human Resources Management ("SHRM") and Women Presidents' Organization.
